Robot Wars - The First World  Championship.

After series 3 was filmed, some 16 robots from all over the world came  together to battle for world domination. These 16 robots battled their way  through until just one was left. So here is the full battle by battle  report.

The Robots.

Depoppesaurus Rex (Bel), Diotoir (ERIE), Weldor (NI), Prometheus (USA), All  Torque (Sco), Razer (Eng), Mortis (Eng), Terror Australis (Aus), Behemoth (Eng),  Technolease (Hol), Panic Attack (Wal), 101 (Eng), Chaos 2 (Eng), Killerhurtz  (Czech), The Mauler (USA) and Cerberus (Cyp).

The Eliminators.

Depoppesaurus Rex (Bel) vs Diotoir (ERIE)

Result: Bit of pushing and shoving, and the standard fire,  sees Diotoir flip Depoppesaurus Rex, which rolls back over, and then be lifted  up. Diotoir wins through to the next round.

Weldor (NI) vs Prometheus (USA)

Result: Prometheus is too big and too fast for the size of  the arena. It nearly flies into the pit, but shoots over it and into Killalot.  Lifted up by Weldor, they end up on top of Shunt, and the slope causes the fuel  line to run dry. Weldor through.

All Torque (Sco) vs Razer (Eng)

Result: Razer cuts All Torque to pieces, cutting into the  wheels and breaking the motors. Razer the clear winner as the house robots move  in on All Torque.

Mortis (Eng) vs Terror Australis (Aus)i

Result: Terrorfied  Australis doesn't move at all as Mortis moves in to take an easy win.

Behemoth (Eng) vs Technolease (Hol)

Result: The Technolease team clearly hadn't taken into  account the weapons of the other robots as they stupidly drive straight into the  front of Behemoth. Battle lasted approx. 10 seconds. Behemoth into the next  round.

Panic Attack (Wal) vs 101 (Eng)

Result: Panic Attack lifts 101 into the air on its spikes.  However, 101 seemed to block the veiw of Kim davies, whose driving was on top  form as ever, as he drove Panic Attack towards that large hole known as the pit.  101 through.

Chaos 2 (Eng) vs Killerhurtz (Czech)

Result: Killerhurtz  pins Chaos 2 into Shunt with its axe, and Shunt uses his axe to puncture Chaos  2's pneumatics system. But there was some CO2 from somewhere and Chaos 2 managed  to flip Killerhurtz over. Chaos 2 through.

The Mauler (USA) vs Cerberus (Cyp)

Result: The Mauler was DSQ because it was unsafe. Cerberus  through.

The Quarter Finals

Cerberus (Cyp) vs Diotoir (ERIE)

Result: Cerberus in its first battle comes up against the  mighty Diotoir. Diotoir gets the flipper under Cerberus several times before  finally turning it over. House Robots move in on Cerberus, and Diotoir moves in  on Sgt. Bash. You can probably guess what happened next.

Weldor (NI) vs 101 (Eng)

Result: Weldor starts badly by nearly reversing into the  pit, but it manages to scramble out. 101 pinned by its tracks but the judges  give it to 101. Good battle.

Chaos 2 (Eng) vs Razer (Eng)

Result: 'Chaos team, do you have any problems?'. 'Yes Razer.  Thats the problem!' was the conversation before the battle. They were not wrong.  Chaos 2 manages to flip Razer up against the wall, but the claw came in straight  through the pneumatic filling system of Chaos 2, and it bacame pinned between  Razer and Dead Metal. With no CO2 from anywhere this time, George Francis dived  into the pit to save the robot.

Behemoth (Eng) vs Mortis (Eng)

Result: Mortis was in on the attack right at the start, but  it proved a big mistake. The axe jammed in the front of Behemoth, which lifted  it up, and then blocked the path for Mortis to self right. Mortis was then  pushed into the pit.

The Semi Finals

Behemoth (Eng) vs Diotoir (ERIE)

Result: Behemoth was straight in on Diotoir flipping it  over. Sgt. Bash came in, but the already furless Diotoir was righted by a kind  Behemoth. Who then turned Diotoir back over again. And Again. Behemoth through,  and it would be an all English final no matter what happened in the other  fight.

Razer (Eng) vs 101 (Eng)

Result: The result was so predictable, right down to the  fact that the 101 team had made an agreement with the Razer team not to trash  the motors, so 101 could come back. A little bird tells me they also filled the  robot with wood to protect it! It didn't work, as Razer danced about the arena  with 101 in its grip.

The World Championship Final.

Razer (Eng) vs Behemoth (Eng)

Result: The all English final was one of the closest battles  in Robot Wars history. The first half belonged to Behemoth, as it flipped Razer  early and stood behind it, so it couldn't come back. Razer was then pushed onto  the flame pit. But when the claw was raised and the wings extended, they went  down the holes in the mesh of the flame pit. After a bit of help from Dead  Metal, Razer finally righted, and was in on Behemoth before it knew what had hit  it. From this point on the battles belonged to Razer, as the bottom section on  Behemoth was damaged, and the lifter disabled. At the end the final was decided  by a judges decision, which was split, 2 to 1, in favour of ... Razer.
